ENHANCING VALUES FOR YOUTH
A MESSAGE FROM THE FIRST TEE OF CONTRA COSTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

East Bay Golf Foundation
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Character Development and Life-Enhancing Values for Youth

April 2009

Dear First Tee Parent:

The First Tee of Contra Costa is a non-profit organization dedicated to youth development. Our Mission is:

"To impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote positive character development and life enhancing values through the game of golf.".

The First Tee is accomplishing that mission through several important programs.  The registered on-site program that your child(ren) participate in at one of our four affiliated golf courses: Diablo Creek Golf Course, Boundary Oak Golf Course, Lone Tree Golf Course and Delta View Golf Course.  In addition to the on-site programs, we also participate in two off-site programs: The National Schools program in which teachers are trained to present the Life Skills to primary school participants as part of the Physical Education curriculum; and an after-school program that is offered in conjunction with other organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, etc.

The program fees do not cover all of the costs associated with delivering The First Tee Life Skills Education to the children that are attending the various programs. The remaining costs that are not covered by program fees must be raised either by grants from corporations or foundations or from individual contributors.

The First Tee of Contra Costa has an active fund-raising program under the direction of the Board of Directors.  This program is seeking funding from planned giving, Major gifts annual gifts and special events.  The Board of Directors is challenged in the current economic climate to obtain the necessary funding to maintain the program at its current levels, let alone expand the program into areas with larger numbers of underserved youth.

The First Tee of Contra Costa Board of Directors has set a goal of raising $100,000 this year from special events, such as golf tournaments and a fund-raising drive to ensure that we can maintain the level of programming that is currently offered.

The First Tee 2009 Drive for the Kids is asking parents and friends to donate at one or more of four levels (PayPal Accepted):

PAR - $25

BIRDIE - $50

EAGLE - $100

ACE - $250

We hope that you have enjoyed your children's participation in The First Tee programming and have seen the positive results of their involvement in the Life Skills Educational Experience. We also hope that you will be able to support us financially at a level comfortable for you to ensure that we will be able to maintain the current level of programming and hopefully, expand the programming as the response to our Drive for the Kids permits.

Sincerely,

Robert Y. Anderson
